SouthPoint FCU raises over $15,000 with Chain of Hearts
press release: SouthPoint Federal Credit Union 04/01/2014 – SLEEPY EYE, Minn. - SouthPoint Federal Credit Union raised more than $7,500 from January 13, 2014 – February 28, 2014 for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare through their Chain of Hearts Campaign, a fundraiser coordinated by the Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids program. The campaign raised money through the sale of paper links and hearts, which were personalized and linked together to form a chain displayed in each branch office. Through the generosity of CO-OP Financial Services, the money raised was doubled through their Miracle Match program to achieve a total donation in excess of $15,000.
“The event was a great success, and we want to thank our members, business members, Miracle Match and people throughout the community for their involvement,” said Angie Pidde, Service Manager at SouthPoint. “The specialized services at Gillette’s benefit children locally, so the Chain of Hearts campaign directly contributes to programs that provide care for kid’s right here in our area. 495 patients from our seven county field of membership were served by Gillette’s in 2012.”
SouthPoint Federal Credit Union’s Chain of Hearts is part of a statewide fundraising effort. Through this fundraiser, Credit Union for Kids, a sponsor program of the Children’s Miracle Network, Minnesota credit unions raised more than $40,000 for Gillette’s in 2013.
Credit Unions for Kids is a collaboration of credit unions, chapters, leagues and business partners engaged in fundraising activities to benefits Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated hospitals. All money raised through Minnesota’s Credit Union for Kids program supports Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare, helping kids with disabilities and chronic conditions. Gillette is based in St. Paul, with clinic located in Minnetonka, New Brighton and Duluth. Gillette’s North Clinics and outreach efforts bring physician and technology services to communities including Alexandria, Bemidji, Brainerd, Cloquet, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, International Falls, Moose Lake and Virginia.
Since 1987, Gillette has been on the forefront of medical treatment, education and research for children with disabilities. Gillette’s mission is to help patients realize the greatest possible independence, well-being and enjoyment in life.
